2006 Recap
BY: CHAD
What can we say about the 2006 year? I like to look at it as a rebuilding year. Each member of our team had their own growing pains to overcome. Some had growing families to prepare for; others had injuries to recover from while a couple of us just had to simply step up our game to ride with the more competitive classes we advanced to. While some took longer than others, everyone eventually came though the rebuild stronger than ever.
The year started off pretty melancholy with a 4th place finish at the 12 Hours of Reddick. The team set a co-ed team to the race and this team almost pulled off a podium spot but just missed the final lap cut off time. After that is was a couple of month hiatus mixed with several local road races. Next on the racing calendar was the 12 Hours of Tsali. The team went here with a single goal in mind - To defend last year’s win, which we did. With two new 12 hour teammates and 2 returning riders the team held on after a late lemans style restart for the win. Next up were a couple new races and the South East Regional Series. Several riders choose to challenge The off Road Assault on Mt. Mitchell while others focused on the South East Regional Series. The riders that journeyed to Ashville for the ORAMM accomplished what they set out to do and the SERC racers produced multiple wins as well as a 2nd place overall in the Sport class. Now we were on to the season finally, the Florida State Championship Series. This series was the most competitive that I have ever seen it, with large fields, challenging courses and fast Florida riders, the team came out strong. With multiple riders stepping up classes and new riders coming onboard the team had a top 10 the Semi-pro class, a top 15 in the Sport class, several top 5s in the Kids classes and a 2nd place over all in the Senior-Beginners division.
What does 2007 have in store? We will have to wait and see. I can assure you one thing though, Team Bike Works Orlando will be a true advocate of the sport and we will see the team accomplish great things together.
Stay tuned to our website though out the year for continuous updates.
